COMICS & STREET ARTIST
I've been avoiding featuring street artists on Spotlight for two reasons. First, they are often underground artists and very difficult to locate or find personal information on. And since I enjoy being able to share quotes from the artist and contrast their work with their biographies, it's a difficult process to follow through on. But after these past few months, I decided to suck it up and do it anyways, because in all honesty, I am completely in love with street art. The actual work fascinates me, but it's the concept and guerrilla style that really gets me excited. How can you not love an artist who is willing to put his work out there for the public to see, regardless of the repercussions that come with it? That's not to say that I support any 15 year old that can tag their name with a can of spray paint, but if you work is personal and worth sharing, I'm all about it.
So let me know introduce you to
a British street artist that is taking the world by storm with his comic book and surrealist inspired work. Phlegm is originally known for his comics and paper prints published in England. His work became so popular that it was soon taken to the streets. Check out some of the beautiful pieces he's created. (My favorite part is that unlike many other street artists, it strays from the written word and focuses on image, and shape.)

He should work with Tim Burton!
