PHOTOGRAPHER
If you know me at all, you know that there is nothing I love more in this world than a full moon. It brings me peace when I need it most, calms my nerves when I am anxious and stressed, and most importantly, keeps me feeling safe and protected like nothing else can. Some people have religion; I have the moon.
And so it should come as no surprise to you, that most anything creative and moon inspired is a sure hit in my book. (Even the title of this blog is a Lorca reference from one of my favorite Nilo Cruz plays.)
When I first came across the work of Laurent Laveder, I was instantly elated. How could I not love it? It joins three of my favorite things in all the world: photography, whimsy and of course, la luna.
You'll notice that Laurent Laveder didn't always set out to be a photographer. This French amateur astronomer took his love for the moon, and turned it into one of a kind photographs that inspire the playfulness and creativity in all of us. With the help of his girlfriend, Sabine, and some additional props, he began shooting a series of false perspective photos at a beach near his home in France.
Soon, the hobby grew into a following much bigger than he could have anticipated, and he has now launched a book, "Quartier Libre," where a collection of 19 of his photographs are paired with calligrams written by various authors.
